I am so strait¤ened in my¤self,
In this great race I have be¤gun;
O Lord, Thou art my con¤fi¤dence,
En¤large my ¤heart that I may run.

The prayer of faith shall speed my feet;
And give the clear and sin¤gle eye,
To shun the net, the tempt¤er’s snare,
And see my ¤Sav¤iour al¤ways nigh.

So oft for¤get¤ful, I ne¤glect
The great pro¤vi¤sion Thou hast made,
The faith and love is faint and weak,
My soul is ¤trou¤bled and a¤fraid.

In¤grat¤i¤tude would chill my zeal
And cause my foot¤steps to de¤cline,
My strong and fear¤ful en¤e¤mies,
Would par¤a¤¤lyse this heart of mine.

I must needs run, my foes pur¤sue,
I fear lest they should o¤ver¤take
And slay me in the wil¤der¤ness,
Re¤buke them ¤for Thy mer¤cy’s sake.

Then swift¤er than the ea¤gle’s flight,
My soul on wings shall rise to Thee,

Stay not Thine own al¤might¤y hand,
