I love to think of Je¤sus,
Who came from heaven a¤bove.
For¤sak¤ing home and glo¤ry
In all His ¤match¤¤less love.
He came to die for sin¤ners;
My soul, oh, can it be.
¤In all His ten¤der mer¤cy,
He came to die for me.

I love to think of Je¤sus,
Up¤on the cross of shame.
I ask my soul the ques¤tion,
Was it for ¤me ¤He came?
God’s Ho¤ly Spir¤it an¤swers,
And in His light I see.
¤That Je¤sus hung and suf¤fered,
Up¤on the cross for me.

I love to think of Je¤sus,
Who left His Fa¤ther’s heart;
In all His grace and pit¤y,
He came to ¤take ¤my part.
His life the Light of A¤ges,
In time, e¤ter¤nal¤ly.
¤The word of God in¤car¤nate,
Christ now re¤vealed in me.
