Since Je¤sus con¤quered death and hell,
And put a¤way my sin,
I know the cleans¤ing of His blood,
I have His life with¤in;
A¤bid¤ing in the liv¤ing vine,
The fruits of right¤eous¤ness are mine.

My hu¤man na¤ture would op¤pose
His just and right¤eous reign,
But when the Lamb of God pre¤vails,
My peace re¤turns a¤gain.
When self pre¤vails I soon de¤cline,
And dark¤ness fills this heart of mine.

Op¤pos¤ing forc¤es are at work
With¤in con¤tin¤ual¤ly,
My car¤nal mind u¤surps the throne,
The place where Christ should be.
When Sa¤tan rules I must re¤pine,
The bit¤ter¤ness of death is mine.

Since I must suf¤fer in the flesh,
Lord arm me with the mind
Of Him who all the law ful¤filled,
And nev¤er once in¤clined
To sin, but gave His life di¤vine
A will¤ing sac¤ri¤fice for mine.

Thou hast all power in Heaven, on earth,
And all con¤tained there¤in.
Pre¤vail in me, Thou sin¤less one,
That I may strive and win.
My liv¤ing Lord, I now re¤sign–
Let all Thy will pre¤vail o’er mine.

The law of sin and death would rise
To hide my Sav¤iour’s face;
My on¤ly ar¤mour is– all prayer,
And all His power¤ful grace;
Thy law is life– a¤rise and shine,
Pre¤vail in this poor heart of mine.
