The heart of ¤God is al¤ways griev’d
Un¤less His cho¤sen peo¤ple pray,
And seek His all suf¤fi¤cient grace
To keep them in the e¤vil day.

Pray’r is the ¤strong con¤nect¤ing link,
The vi¤tal, quick¤’ning, heav’n¤ly flame
Which burns with¤in the hearts of all
Who live to hon¤our His great Name.

Ef¤fec¤tual, ¤fer¤vent pray’rs shall bring
God’s rich¤est bless¤ings from a¤bove;
All pray’r pre¤vails with Him who reigns
For ev¤er¤more in sov¤’reign love.

Pray’r moves the ¤lov¤ing heart of God
To grant these fa¤vours from on high–
A wise and un¤der¤stand¤ing heart,
The clear, dis¤cern¤ing, sin¤gle eye.
