The life of Paul the faith¤ful
Is sweet to heart and mind,
He chose to walk with Je¤sus
And leave the world be¤hind.
He viewed the bet¤ter coun¤try,
Its rich¤es won his heart,
The love of Christ con¤strain¤ing
To choose the bet¤ter part.

In watch¤ings and in fast¤ings,
In wea¤ri¤ness and pain,
He brave¤ly fought the bat¤tle,
The crown of life to gain.
He gave the whole burnt of¤f’ring.
The dai¤ly sac¤ri¤fice,
His all up¤on the al¤tar,
Most pre¤cious in God’s eyes.

He did not fail nor fal¤ter,
Strong in the grace of God,
He walked the low¤ly path¤way
The suf¤f’ring Sav¤iour trod,
To him both praise and hon¤our
Were but a pass¤ing show,
While press¤ing on and for¤ward
The Son of God to know.

Be¤yond the seen and tem¤p’ral
He saw the Heav’n¤ly prize,
The scorn and shame and suf¤f’ring
For Christ He did de¤spise,
The life and light e¤ter¤nal
Pos¤sessed his heart and soul,
He kept His bod¤y un¤der,
And pressed to¤ward the goal.

He saw the world in dark¤ness,
Con¤fused and tem¤pest tossed,
He mag¤ni¤fied the Sav¤iour
In lab¤’ring for the lost,
Per¤suad¤ing Jew and Gen¤tile
From com¤ing wrath to flee,
For¤sak¤ing sin and bond¤age
For Christ and lib¤er¤ty.

He ran the race with pa¤tience,
Un¤daunt¤ed to the end,
One heart, one mind, one pur¤pose,
The gos¤pel to de¤fend.
He stood a¤lone, for¤sak¤en,
But God was on his side
For Christ he lived and suf¤fered;
Faith¤ful to Him he died.
