There is no friend like Je¤sus
In earth, or heav’n a¤bove;
Un¤fail¤ing, nev¤er chang¤ing,
His name and na¤ture, love.
He left His home in glo¤ry
To die on Cal¤va¤ry;
I can¤not help but love Him,
Be¤cause He first loved me.

My soul was heav¤y bur¤dened,
And sor¤row filled my heart;
Sin’s fear¤ful con¤dem¤na¤tion
My por¤tion and my part.
The mes¤sage came from heav¤en,
“I died your soul to free;”
I can¤not help but love Him,
Be¤cause He first loved me.

How great my con¤so¤la¤tion–
The Lamb of God has died;
In Him I am ac¤cept¤ed,
For¤giv¤en, sanc¤ti¤fied.
I soon shall join the ran¤somed,
My Sav¤iour I shall see;
I can¤not help but love Him,
Be¤cause He first loved me.
