When Je¤sus left His home a¤bove
The Fa¤ther’s will to do
His love and sac¤ri¤fice was great,
He tast¤ed death for you.

Chorus:
He tast¤ed death ¤for you, for you,
How strong His love ¤and true,
God’s well be¤lov¤¤ed Son came down,
And tast¤¤ed death for you.
He tast¤ed death for you, for you,
How strong His love and true,
God’s well be¤lov¤ed Son came down,
And ¤tast¤ed death for you.

He gave His best, His on¤ly Son,
His love to man¤i¤fest,
That bur¤dened ones might find in Him
Their ev¤er¤last¤ing rest.

He bore the scorn, the crown of thorns,
Re¤ject¤ed and de¤nied,
In ig¤no¤min¤y passed a¤way,
A spear wound in His side.

For you He lived, for you He died,
His life was yield¤ed up,
While mock¤ing sin¤ners did de¤ride,
He drank death’s bit¤ter cup.

His life He gave your life to save,
En¤dured the cross and shame.
To save you from e¤ter¤nal death,
The King of Glo¤ry came.
