With¤in, with¤in this trou¤bled heart of mine,
There is so much to con¤quer and sub¤due,
That I am oft a¤mazed and sore per¤plexed,
And of¤ten¤times I know not what to do.

The man¤y, man¤y voic¤es all a¤broad,
Dis¤tract¤ing thoughts and al¤to¤geth¤er vain,
Would hide the face and still the voice of God,
And in my heart an en¤trance seek to gain.

I fain would keep it un¤de¤filed and pure,
A sa¤cred dwell¤ing for the De¤i¤ty,
My call¤ing and e¤lec¤tion now make sure,
Es¤tab¤lished, strength¤ened, set¤tled Lord in Thee.

All vain im¤ag¤in¤a¤tions cast them down,
Bid all de¤ceit and wick¤ed¤ness de¤part,
In lov¤ing kind¤ness, ten¤der mer¤cies crown
My soul with peace and reign with¤in my heart.

Oh, come, Lord Je¤sus, come and now de¤stroy,
Ac¤com¤plish death on Sa¤tan’s work with¤in,
Come in, Lord Je¤sus, I shall hail with joy
The one who died to save me from all sin.
